Let's get to today's Blaugust topic. Since today's the 31st, here's the 31st topic from Shelli's old 2019 list: Letter to my first-year teacher self… I choose this prompt because it's the 31st prompt on Shelli's list, and today's date is the 31st. But it's only fitting that this falls on the final day of the month, since a letter to my first-year self is exactly what I need to tie up everything that I've written in the previous Blaugust posts. When Shelli first included this prompt in the list, she probably intended the letters to say something like, "I know teaching is tough now, but it'll become easier after a few years." But obviously, that's not what I want to write. My first year of teaching was by any stretch of the imagination a failure, and so what I need to write myself is information that would have made myself a better teacher.
